Welcome to Many Plans, One Community, the online home for information about updates to Charlottesville and Albemarle County’s comprehensive plans, the Charlottesville-Albemarle MPO’s Long Range Transportation Plan, and the creation of a Livability Implementation Plan for our area.  This site is intended to provide access to information about each plan and to provide a forum for public input throughout the planning process.

This joint planning effort is the first of its kind in our region. Many Plans, One Community is being coordinated through the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission in order to maximize community engagement in the process and to encourage collaboration across municipal boundaries. Public participation is essential to this process – please take a moment to explore this site and give us your feedback.

Charlottesville Planning Commission to Host May 22 Work Session

On Tuesday, May 22 from 5-7 pm, project staff will facilitate a conversation with City planning commissioners on historic resources, entrance corridors and the environment followed by a period for public comment. The meeting will take place in the NDS conference room in City Hall. Agenda available on City Planning Commission website

Many Plans One Community Celebrates its One Year Anniversary!

One year ago the City, County, UVA & TJPDC kicked off the Livable Communities Planning Project. To commemorate the project's one year anniversary, TJPDC will host a celebration at Water Street Center on Friday, June 1st from 5:30-7:30 pm in conjunction with First Fridays, highlighting findings & accomplishments from the first year of the project. Draft Performance Measurement System Report available online

A draft report summarizing the outcomes of the Performance Measurement System development process is now available for review. The report provides important baseline information about where we stand with respect to goals outlined in the Charlottesville and Albemarle County Comprehensive Plans. Feedback on the draft report can be submitted through the Comments page.

Common Land Use Map complete

The Common Land Use Map displays future land use for the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County with an overlay of the area's approved long range transportation projects. The map is intended to help facilitate coordinated planning in the City & County and to aid citizens in understanding the impact of land use & transportation decisions. Livability Partnership membership open

The Livability Partnership was created as a mechanism for community groups to provide input throughout the Livable Communities planning process. If your group is interested in being part of the Livability Partnership, please read the invitation letter, fill out the form on page 3, and return to TJPDC. Please note that participation is limited to one representative per group.
